Getting to Bratislava by plane

Bratislava is served by two international airports: The M. R. Štefánik Airport, which is located 9 km from the city centre and Vienna International Airport (VIA), which is just 45 minutes away from Bratislava by bus or car. Both of these airports offer direct busses to and from the city. The M. R. Štefánik Aiport can be also accessed by bus line 61, which starts at the main railway station or by bus line 96, which has its starting point in the center of Petržalka. The VIA situated near Vienna can be accessed by several bus lines. Most of them have their starting points either at the central bus station located in Mlynské Nivy or at the Main railway station. The most popular bus lines moving between Bratislava and the Schwechat Airport are Slovak Lines, Flixbus and RegioJet.

Getting to Bratislava by train

Bratislava’s main railway station (Bratislava hlavná stanica) is about a 10-minute ride from the city centre. The average journey time between Vienna’s main railway station and Bratislava’s main railway station is 1 hour and 24 minutes while the fastest journey time is 1 hour and 6 minutes. On an average weekday, there are 18 trains per day coming from Vienna to Bratislava. The journey time may be longer on weekends and holidays. Trains that depart in the early morning hours or the very late evening may have sleeper services. Alternatively, some popular routes may run throughout the night at a reduced frequency. There may also be fewer services on weekends and holidays.

Getting to Bratislava by bus

A convenient and the most economical way to reach Bratislava from Vienna is by bus service provider Regiojet. More information can be found on their webpage https://regiojet.com/. The cost of a one-way ticket is around 5 – 11 EUR per passenger depending on the time of departure. There are also other transport alternatives, such as Slovak Lines or Flixbus. Each provider has its own time schedule that can be accessed either through their homepage or through www.cp.sk. The www.cp.sk webpage is user friendly and provides several options of transportation to customers. It combines various service providers and means of transportation to find the best mode of transportation.

Other ways of getting to Bratislava

Bratislava can also be accessed from both aiports by taxi or rideshare, which can both be accessed through different mobile applications. Given the rising popularity of alternative means of transportation, such as above- mentioned ridesharing, always check your Google Play or App store for the latest versions of applications such as BlaBlaCar or Waze app.

Getting around Bratislava

By public transportation

Tickets for public transport can be bought at several places and offices around Bratislava. The most popular public transportation offices are at the Main railway station, the Central bus station at Mlynské nivy or in the passage on Hodžovo square, which is located underground. Tickets can also be bought at ticket machines or via an IDS BK app, or sms. Machines accept coins from a value of 5 cents up to € 2. Old ticket machines are being replaced with the newest version, which enables contactless payments.

The cost of basic and reduced tickets can be seen in fhe following chart. Note that the reduced ticket prices apply to students with an ISIC card - students up to 25 years of age (incl.), elderly people with local senior passes and children up to 15 years old.

Prepaid tickets are the most effective option for passengers who travel regularly. Within the duration of the prepaid ticket, the passenger may travel unlimitedly by any means, including both municipal transport (city buses, trolleybuses and trams) and regional transport (regional buses and trains of categories Os and REx within the owner-defined fare zones. For travelling around the city only, basic ticket or prepaid ticket (none of the regional zones) is enough. On foot

Many of the city‘s main attractions are in and around the Old Town area and are reachable on foot. However, it is likely that visitors will need to use some sort of public transportation at some point during their stay.

By taxi

Using taxis to get around in Bratislava is getting more popular thanks to several applications, which can be accessed through smartphones. The most recognized taxi companies in Bratislava include:

It is recommended to use mobile applications such as Hopin or Bolt. Customers are able to receive a fare estimate before each ride, can pay cashless, see reviews of each driver and can book via smartphone. Access Google Play or Apple AppStore and download one of the above mentioned apps to access their services.

Location of Campus EUBA

EUBA Campus is located in the beginning of Petržalka, approximately 15 minutes bus ride from the city center. The bus stop that serves the university is called „Ekonomická univerzita“ and it is located right in front of the university.
