 The objective of learning in the Tourism Management study program is mastering relevant theories and concepts related to complex economic processes in tourism and related fields; acquiring the ability to contribute to the development of theory, new knowledge, and innovations based on original research; gaining the ability to apply relevant advanced quantitative and qualitative scientific methods in the examination and comprehensive resolution of scientific problems; developing the ability to effectively and purposefully disseminate the results of original scientific research to ensure their practical application and accessibility to relevant target groups at the international level. The graduate is able to:

  • identify, formulate, analytically and critically address scientific problems within the dynamic and multidisciplinary environment of tourism,
  • effectively evaluate and propose sustainable and innovative solutions for tourism enterprises and organizations,
  • develop integrated strategies to enhance the competitiveness of tourism, considering complex contexts, including the micro- and macro-environment of tourism, territorial conditions, as well as the cross-sectoral nature of the industry,
  • identify current challenges in tourism, present critical perspectives, and propose theoretical frameworks and research procedures for effective solutions within the context of the national economy as a whole.

Graduate profile

A graduate of the doctoral program in Tourism Management is an expert with a comprehensive set of in-depth knowledge of economic processes in tourism at both the micro and macro levels, considering its relationships with related disciplines. They are capable of identifying, formulating, analytically and critically processing scientific problems within the dynamic and multidisciplinary environment of tourism. They can effectively evaluate and propose sustainable and innovative solutions for tourism enterprises and organizations.
Thanks to their deep understanding of strategic tourism management, they can develop integrated strategies to enhance tourism competitiveness within a complex framework, taking into account the micro- and macro-environment of tourism, territorial prerequisites, and the cross-sectoral nature of the industry.
The foundation for these competencies lies in the knowledge and ability to apply advanced quantitative and qualitative scientific methods for analyzing and optimizing tourism processes, as well as the capacity to analyze complex data sets. Through their application, the graduate is capable of identifying current challenges in tourism, providing critical insights, proposing theoretical frameworks, and developing research methodologies for effective solutions within the broader national economy.
The graduate is proficient in scientific research methodology and can formulate relevant research questions that not only respond to current developments in tourism but also contribute to a deeper understanding and theoretical advancement of the field. They can design and conduct independent research and possess all the necessary prerequisites to contribute to the development of new theories in tourism, creating a practical framework for the sector’s more efficient and sustainable development. They are competent in presenting their own analyses of scientific and professional problems in tourism, offering well-founded assessments and proposing effective solutions.
The graduate is prepared for strategic management roles in tourism, where their comprehensive theoretical knowledge, applied practice, analytical skills, and research expertise enable them to find employment in the global tourism market. Career opportunities include research and development in tourism, specialized research institutions, and academic environments. They may hold positions such as a research fellow or a managerial role in tourism and related fields within national and international research institutions and academic settings. Additionally, they can work as executives and managers in multinational corporations, international governmental and non-governmental tourism organizations, EU institutions, and top-level state administration managing tourism and its various sectors, or as chief tourism advisors.
